vSphere 6.5 & 6.7 – End of General Support
Don’t forget that vSphere 6 is phasing out, and that most people should be moving to vSphere 7.
So far, vSphere 7.0.3 Update 3c seems to be very stable.
vSphere 6.5 & 6.7 End Of General Support ends October 15, 2022
This only leaves just under 3 months to get to vSphere 7.

Don’t forget that SD cards are no longer recommended by VMware!
That means you need SSD or NVMe for boot drives now!
vSphere+ and vSAN+?
There is a promise for all perpetual licenses to be taken into account when transitioning to the VMware Subscription model, which is why I personally believe this new “offering” exists.
Speaking with others in the community, there are mixed feelings on this.
Still too early to tell.
Still, VMworld (ok, VMware Explore) is only 7 weeks out, so I’m sure I can figure it out by then, and give feedback to VMware.

Presenting at VMworld (VMware Explore, I mean…)
Left my typo in the title for this. I’m still defaulting to calling it VMworld….after nearly 20 years, hard habit to break.
I’ll be presenting at the VMTN area.

Customizing VMs in vSphere 7.0.3 with cloud-init
Of course, it has to be William Lam who posts this….(kudos of course).
Check out his post, on how to use cloud-init with current vSphere release.
Only issue I have with this, is he calls out VMware Tools version 11.3 or greater.
Linux distress use open-vm-tools.
I hoep he means open-vm-tools…..
Looking forward to calling it out in the GUI soon.
Setting VM Compatibility via API / PowerCLI
Another William Lam post….
Now I know you can set this at at a few places for quite a few versions…
Datacenter (right click), Cluster (Under configure), and
per host (under configure).
VMware recently made an API call, and this post shows how to use PowerCLI to make this change.
Nvidia Tesla K80 to Windows 11 on Horizon View
This is a bit of a weird YouTube video, as there is no talking, and is just a lot of screen captures around the setup.
But it covers Tesla K80 cards, installed int vSphere 7.0 Update 3 hosts, for Windows 11 VMs that will be delivered by Horizon View (phew!).
The 12 minute video is broken up into easy to figure out chapters in the timeline.
