PuTTY Gets updated
PuTTY is now version 0.73
Still funny that it is not even 1.0 yet….
Here is the change log.
Repointing vCenter to another SSO Domain
There were quite a few situations in vSphere 5.5 to 6.x migrations where this would have been handy. Now in 6.7 the domain-repoint command is available for performing this move.
VMware Blog post covering the steps.
VMware UAG (Unified Access Gateway) hidden tools
Given the wealth of VMworld 2019 sessions available, I have yet had time to watch 10% of them, much less all of them.
Hidden gems in two of the sessions talk about 2 tools that are in the UAG, which allow for deeper troubleshooting.
TCPdump and ETHtool are in the UAG bits.
Found this post highlighting these tools (short, but direct).
VMware Project nanoEDGE

Small nodes (SuperMicro is highlighted in these posts) that provide “Edge” solutions….in the past, I would have called it a “ROBO (remote office branch office)” solution.
The reference architecture from the VMware post shows all the options around deployment

I also have taken the Pulse IoT Center 2.0 HOL.
HOL-2089-01-EMT
This was fun….
Microsoft WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop)
This was released (announced?) Sept 30.
Found a short video for those who are not familiar with it.
Anyone who does VDI (and separates user profiles and apps) already understands what this is doing.
Here’s a 14 minute YouTube video of the solution.
Here’s an article on BrianMadden.com.
