VCDX – newest & those who upgrade to current VCDX
Welcome some of the newest VCDX!
Also, take a peek at how many VCDX upgraded their cert to current versions.
While I have VCDX in vSphere 3, 4, 5, 6, and now 2020, that’s a lot of updates.
If there are ~300 VCDX, and only 16 per year update it, I wonder how many have all there versions that I do (upgrading every version)…. 12 years into the program.

VMware Tools 11.2.5 released
Remember…VMware Tools is really only required for Windows (as modern Linux distributions…they have open-vm-tools), and is released OUTSIDE the ESXi server releases.
Depending on your version of vCenter, you may have to download manually, and import to Update Manager (now called LifeCycle Manager).
Download link is here.

Internet Facing vCenters……why?
Corporate resources should not be on the public internet.
Why open yourself up to unnecessary risk.
There are people who still do these things for some reason….
check out this latest post at vNinja.net, where Christian Mohn summarizes (and has all the viable links) to how many vCenter servers (and hence….ESXi hosts) are exposed to the public facing internet…..
VMware Designlets – making up new words….
What is a Designlet?
VMware Blog post is here….and this excerpt is taken right from that page.
Designlets are intended to be short-form guides that describe a specific feature or design paradigm. They help identify nuanced considerations and design impacts for a particular component. These designlets also serve as a quick-reference guide, providing key highlights and links to additional resources that is part of the largerĀ VMware Cloud Ready Framework (VMRCF).
So….
Designlet? Perhaps making up a new word isn’t really the best option.
How about we call them like reusable design components or something?
VMFS datastore Folders – what is a Catalog?
Duncan Epping put this out just recently.
While we have become accustomed to certain folders (such as .vSphere-HA), this new catalog folder has shown up.
His post covers this new catalog folder, & its purpose.
VMware vSAN PowerCLI Cookbook – free download

vRealize Automation 8.3 Standard Plus – now…available?
So…with the acquisition of SaltStack, I expected it to be part of vRA.
Just this past week, VMware announced a new “edition” of vRA, which is
vRA Standard Plus.
Differences?
vRA Standard Plus includes the SaltStack components.
First gut instinct?….it replaces vRA Standard (or adds to it).
Now sure why the Plus is added to the name, but it appears that anyone with ANY version of vRA now gets the SaltStack config as part of their 8.3 package.
