VMware – CD-ROM vulnerability
This affects VMware Workstation, Fusion, and ESXi
CVE-2021-22045 works against a connected CD-ROM to a Virtual Machine
(but that’s not you, right? No one leaves a CD-ROM attached to a VM….)
This depends on the version of vSphere you are using, and is detailed out, along with the workarounds (such ad disconnect the CD-ROM) in VMware KB 87249
Very nice of them to include the PowerCLI scripts to resolve it…

Getting started working with APIs

vSphere 7.0 – Update 3b – File based Backups fail

Well, I get a new error….
When attempting to do file based backups of the VCSA,…
“Db health is UNHEALTHY, Backup Failed”
Called out in VMware KB 86084, with workaround, & statement that this will be fixed in the next release….
Just note that the issue can return if using vSAN…
ARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

NSX-T 3.2 simplifies security & micro-segmentation
With NSX-T 3.2 release, you can now do micro-segmentation on normal vDS Port Groups (not vSS, only vDS). In the past, this required N-vDS
Essentially, it is now super easy to add NSX-T 3.2 to an existing vSphere environment using vDS, and get the security benefits.
VMware Blog post is here.
NSX-T 3.2 Upgrade Problems
So….currently, if you upgrade to NSX-T 3.2, you will have an issue.
I tried after I read this, and yup…had an issue.
Kinda feels like someone is really forgetting to QA new releases….
VMware KB 87231 covers it here.
