VMware PULLS ESXi 7.0 u3 & u3a
With Update 3 being a month old, and update 3a being 2 weeks old….
BOTH HAVE BEEN PULLED FROM THE VMWARE WEBSITE!!!!
There were multiple issues with both releases.
I just taught a 3 day workshop based on Update 3a, and had nothing but issues…(all minor, but I could not successfully, patch, got a couple PSODs, and had minor operations GUI based issues)
IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN UP TO THIS RELEASE …> PATCH NOW!!!!!
VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3b Release Notes are here.
VMware vCenter 7.0 Update 3b Release Notes are here.

vSphere 7.0 Update 3 & 3a issues
(left this here, as I posted this JUST after my last post….would hate to delete history)
VMware KB 86287 cover 4 issues.
One is resolved in ESXi 7.0 Update 3a.
(you still need to install ESXi, and then do Update Manager right away, as there is not ISO yet for ESXi 7.0 Update 3a)
I have hit 3 of the 4 issues in my lab already.

vCenter 7.0 Update 3 – still no SMB support for vCSA File Based Backups
If VMware ONLY supports this approach, how did they screw this up?
SMB file based backups has been broken for > 1 month in Update 3.x
GET THIS SORTED OUT VMware!
Apparently, all other destinations for backup still work, but there are so many folks who will use the SMB approach…..

VMware vCenter VAMI – 7.0.3 u3b – DARK MODE!
Just noticed this.
Could have been in any of the 7.x releases….
When logged into VAMI –> Action –> Switch Theme

ESXi loses connectivity to VMFS Datastore
So I had a client with this issue (since resolved by VMware), and they posed the questions….have you ever used this fix?
They pointed me to what VMware had sent, which is VMware KB 2113956.
…this sounds dangerous….disabling ATS Locking!?!?!?
Taken right from VMware KB 2146451
If you are running a VMware vSAN environment or have ATS-only VMFS volumes, it is important that Hardware Assisted Locking (ATS) is not disabled. Doing so will result in an outage as there will be no locking mechanism available to us.

VVD (VMware Validated Designs) is no more!
VMware Docs site showing VVD is deprecated.
Now, VVS (VMware Validated Solutions) is where to get the SDDC reference architecture guides.
This includes VMware Cloud Foundation!
Essentially, everything has been moved to one set of documents.
