So Duncan Epping posted this in his blog.
He specially states that the upgrade from 7.0-update1 to 7.0-update2 is where the issue was found.

vSAN File Shares – backing them up
Found a post on VMware Tech Zone that covers some of the options you have when backing up vSAN File Shares.
Backup the share, or backup the snapshot of the share…
Pros and cons to both options.
I think most of us would take backup from the snapshot…
